Stash #34: Make Up Remover

Removing makeup is a chore for most girls... especially if your makeup for the day includes mascara or fake lash. The skin around your eyes are really thin and we should not apply too much pressure or tug at it too often.
Therefore, a good makeup remover is essential to keep your face clean at the end of each day and well-maintained even 10, 20 years later. It should also be fuss-free since you should be dead beat at the end of each day.
Hope this review helps you get a better idea of the different types of makeup remover products out there so that you can make a better choice when purchasing!

Maybelline Make Up Remover for Eye and Lip
Thumbs up: Since it is for eyes and lips, it is strong enough to remove any thick eyeliner, mascara and red hot lipstick. Plus it's cheap! You can always get the 40ml travel size bottle at Watsons for just $2.

Thumbs down: This remover is really oily, making water incapable of penetrating through your skin after make-up removal.

Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion
Thumbs Up: Fast and efficiently removes make-up. Doesn't feel oily after removal.

Thumbs down: Somehow this removal makes my eyes sting every single time I use it. Hence I'm using it as a make-up "eraser" to erase mistakes on my eyes during make up.

Biore Make-up Remover (Pink Bottle)
Thumbs Up: Removes make-up almost instantly or after a few rubs. Face feels clean after use. Oh yeah, you don't need cotton pads for this. You just need your fingers.

Thumbs down: None really. Not any I can think of.

Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets
Thumbs Up: This product is awesome! I always use this when I have thick make-up on or on days when I'm really tired. Like a piece of wet wipes, just place them on your face, especially the eye area, press it down for a few seconds, and swipe it across your face. Most of my make-up came off instantly. Wipe a few more times and you are done! Face doesn't feel oily at all and you feel like you don't even need facial wash.

Thumbs down: Nothing to say. It's awesome!

Biore Hydra-Clear Make-up Remover
Thumbs Up: This product works just as well as its sister in pink.

Bio-essence Bio-Hydra Water Soluble Olive Cleansing Oil
Thumbs Up: I love how this remover feels smooth and gentle on the skin and turns milky as the make-up comes off. After rinsing with water thoroughly, most of the make-up, including those stubborn mascara and eyeliner will be gone. Besides it has a mild fragrant smell which I like!
And the reason for this? This product adopts bio-technology to make molecules so fine that it can rapidly disintegrate all types of make-up and dirt on skin surface.
It also contains olive oil and cranberry seed oil to nourish the skin while removing the make-up.

Thumbs down: Despite stating that it does not leave your skin feeling greasy, this product is a little oily to the skin. But after a facial wash, your face will feel just as clean.

STASH #34: Meiji Amino Collagen Review

Do you know what is collagen and its function in your body?

Do you know that collagen in your body start to decrease drastically in your 20s?

Collagen is actually a type of protein in your body that joins and supports bodily tissues like your skin, bone, tendons, muscles and cartilage together. It also supports your internal organs and there are more than 2 types of naturally occurring collagen in your body. It provides your body tissues with the firmness and strength and hence, supple and non-wrinkled skin.
Unfortunately, this awesome protein in our body starts degrading as early as when you are 20 years old, and if you don't take care, you will be welcoming saggy and wrinkly skin much earlier than you expect.

So the best way to prevent it? Supply the necessary collagen back to your body!

This is where we have Meiji to thank for! Meiji Amino Collagen is the no. 1 seller for an amazing 7 years in Japan AND in Singapore!

Five reason why Meiji Amino Collagen is the best:

1. Fish derived collagen is 1.5 times more absorbable than pig derived collagen. Have you had people telling you to eat some parts of the pig skin because that's where all the collagen is?? Well, instead of scraping that little bit of collagen from your 三层肉, try a scoop of this each day instead!

2. Amino collagen is made from extremely pure and highly absorbable fish collagen peptide. As advised by an experienced professor in Japan, 5000mg is all we need in a day and this can be measured using the scoop provided in this tin of goodness!

3. Ease of drinking. To be honest, collagen smells and tastes awful. 可是女人就是爱美不要命嘛!Die die also must swallow this down. One scoop of collagen + 3/4 cup of juice is the best combi, or so I heard from my many other friends who are already in this beauty regime. My suggestion: Mix it well, pinch your nose and gulp it down. It's not the taste, as Meiji has already used its superb technology and reduce the odour of collagen further for easier drinking. It's more of the smell as you drink. So just don't smell it! I've been drinking for the past 3 weeks, every morning on an empty stomach for better absorption - or so I believe. I've overcomed the taste and smell and is slowly switching to milo instead of juice cos a glass of juice a day is high in sugar content and not healthy at all (never believe even if they say no sugar added!). Milo is also good because it keeps you full till I take my breakfast 30 mins later.

4. Soluble and easily absorbable collagen peptide
Okay, I think the above 3 points is good enough to explain, and it's the most important thing, right?

5. Superb blending of collagen with carefully selected ingredients
What's more? More awesomeness ingredients to enhance the effectiveness of the drink - arginine amino acid, vitamin C and glucosamine, for maintaining healthy skin, support the collagen and moisturize your skin.

I've known people who are in their 30s but have great and supple skin. Their beauty secret? Meiji Amino Collagen. Which is why I started too. Meiji Amino Collagen has been in the market since 10 years ago and there must be a reason for their success as well.

So get yours at a nearby Watsons or Guardian now! And like my budget self again, you can always wait for special occasions like Great Singapore Sales or Christmas to stock up cos that's when the good ol' pharmacy stores have sales packages. Otherwise, if you really nothing better to do on a friday afternoon, you can make your way down to Meiji Factory and see if they are getting rid of their older stocks. The last time went, they were selling for only 40 plus bucks (usual price about $62)!

Okay, start your beauty regime and be beautiful!
